There was a time when identity was discovered.

Slowly. Imperfectly. A person would live a life before anyone dared claim they understood who that person was.

But markets are impatient. A market cannot trade uncertainty. It requires labels, categories, predictions, and proof.

And so identity became one of humanity's earliest commodities. Not because someone stole it all at once, but because someone measured it carefully enough to make it useful.

At first the measurements seemed harmless: names, occupations, lineage, statistics. Soon came profiles, scores, segments, forecasts, histories, and inherited descriptions.

The self was no longer something a person revealed. It became something inferred.

The worlds gathered under Identity examine the violence hidden inside that confidence: a number above the head, a borrowed life, a mirror inherited from people long dead, an upgrade that promises transcendence while asking what must be surrendered in exchange.

Perhaps the tragedy is not that identity can be measured. Perhaps the tragedy is that, after enough measurements, we begin to mistake the description for the person.

Once that happens, the market no longer needs to discover who we are. It only needs to decide what we are worth.
