World Synopsis
Long after the first firemen are gone, the Rebuilt World celebrates the Great Archive, a monumental institution containing every surviving book and body of knowledge.
Liora Venn visits the Archive during the Centennial and discovers the first contradiction: everything is preserved, but some knowledge is supervised, restricted, delayed, or ordered by councils.
The First Catalog emerges as a necessary response to overwhelming abundance. Curators organize knowledge into pathways, rankings, and required sequences.
Over generations, the Curators become Keepers of Relevance. Citizens no longer ask what is true first; they ask what is recommended, essential, safe, or timely.

For generations, the story has been told as a simple one: there was once a city of screens and noise, so frightened of difficult ideas that it entrusted fire with making them disappear. Books were burned. Questions were discouraged. Complexity became an enemy. In the end, the city consumed itself.
Then came the heroes—the keepers, the preservers, the people who carried fragments of civilization across the ashes. They saved the books, the stories, the accumulated memory of humanity. And because they saved those things, we are told, civilization survived.
